I live in Germany and want to grow cannabis for my own use. Is Vilby right for me?

Vilby is designed for private home cultivation. It offers controlled lighting, ventilation and a compact structure for small-scale indoor cultivation.

It is always the user's responsibility to ensure that cultivation is carried out in accordance with local legislation. Vilby is not tied to a specific plant species, but is suitable for growing a wide range of light-requiring plants.

Below is an example calculation in a situation where home growing is permitted by law. In the example, the vegetative phase lasts five weeks (24/0) and flowering ten weeks (12/12). The calculation is indicative and based on typical costs.

  • Electricity consumption for the entire grow: €9.07 (calculated at 12c/kWh)
  • About 20 liters of soil: 2€
  • Nutrients 150ml (15€ / liter): 2.25€
  • Seed: €10

Estimated direct costs for the entire rearing period: €23.32

The amount of yield depends on the variety, cultivation method, nutrients, conditions and experience. Below are examples of possible yields and their calculated cost per gram based on this example budget:

  • 30g harvest = 0.78€ / g
  • 40g harvest = 0.58€ / g
  • 50g harvest = €0.47 / g
  • 60g harvest = €0.39 / g
  • 70g harvest = 0.33€ / g
  • 80g harvest = €0.29 / g

The figures are illustrative and do not guarantee a specific outcome. Vilby offers a controlled and energy-efficient environment, but the final result always depends on the user and the circumstances.


How effective is Vilby?

Vilby consumes only 40 watts, but produces over 50,000 lux at flowering height – equivalent to a professional-grade flowering light in a small space.

How is the new Vilby different from the first Vilby?

The new Vilby has been designed from the ground up with the wishes of its users in mind. It offers triple the internal space , making growing even easier and more comfortable. The larger space allows for at least double the yields , while still maintaining the compact size and unobtrusive design that is characteristic of Vilby.

Do I need a smartphone to use Vilby?

You don't need to. Vilby works simply and reliably as is. No apps. No updates.

Where are Vilbys made?

Vilby is a new generation of Finnish design. Vilbys are made in Finland, in small batches and by hand. Each individual is carefully tested before delivery. Every VIlby is an individual because Vilby is constantly evolving.

Does Vilby have full spectrum LED lights?

Yes, Vilby always uses full spectrum LEDs.

How long is the lifespan of LEDs?

The LEDs used in Vilbys last over 10 years under normal use – often considerably longer. The warranty covers the LED for 10 years in both new and used Vilbys. If the LED develops problems during this time, I will of course replace it free of charge. Dimming over time is a natural part of the life cycle of all LEDs. For most users, replacing the LED may become relevant in about 10-15 years – or if you want to upgrade to the latest model, even earlier.


Can I replace the LED myself in the future?

Yes, you can replace the LED yourself if you have basic tools and a little experience. The replacement is not difficult, but it does require a little precision. If you want, I will do the replacement for you at my own cost – my goal is not to make money on maintenance, but to design products that last a long time and require as little maintenance as possible. The estimated need for maintenance is a maximum of 2–3 times over a period of about 30 years.
