Vilby – instructions
Package contents:
• Vilby growing cabinet
• Power supply
• Quick Start Guide (this guide)
• Safety instructions
• Activated carbon granules
Place Vilby in place:
• The room temperature remains approximately constant
• Air circulates freely around the cabinet
• The cabinet stands firmly, e.g. on the floor, shelf or table
POWER
Power switch. Turns Vilby on and off.
MODE – LIGHT PERIOD OPTIONS
- 24-0, lights on 24 hours a day
- 20-4, 20 hours of light and 4 hours of darkness
- 18-6, 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness
- 16-8, 16 hours of light and 8 hours of darkness
- 12-12, 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness
- 10–14, 10 hours of light and 14 hours of darkness
-
0–24, complete darkness
General use:
• Vegetative phase (vege): 24–0, 20–4 or 18–6
• Flowering stage: 12–12 or 10–14
START SWITCH
Start initiates the dark phase of the plant's day.
The Start switch is pressed only once at the point where you want to set the plant's circadian rhythm (for example, so that the lights are on mainly at night).
INTENSITY – LIGHT POWER
Adjusts the brightness of the plant light.
In most situations, you can use Vilby at full power. The plant will show if there is too much light (curling of leaves, burn marks, too light color).
Intensity control is useful, for example, if:
• the plant is getting too much light
• the cabinet temperature rises too high
• you are on vacation and cannot water the plant as often
Reducing light intensity reduces the plant's water consumption. The downside is that growth slows down if the goal is to grow a plant that is as large and flowering as possible.
DISPLAY – LED DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS
Adjusts the brightness of the LED display on the front panel of Vilby.
LED DISPLAY
The LED display tells you at a glance what time of day Vilby is.
• Reddish LEDs = bright time, lights on
• Blue LEDs = dark period (still shows the structure of the light cycle)
• Green moving dot = current hour in the plant's circadian rhythm
You can quickly see on the screen:
• how long is the light period
• how long is the dark period
• where in the day are we right now?
FILTER AND VENTILATION
Vilby has an activated carbon filter and a quiet fan that keeps the air moving and odors under control.
• The fan automatically operates at the appropriate speed
• Activated carbon granules are replaced when the smell of plants starts to come through the filter
The charcoal lasts for at least a year, but this is affected by factors such as air humidity and usage.
Once a year is good:
• removes carbon from the filter
• clean the inside of the filter and the fan
For cleaning, you can use, for example, a compressed air spray and a small paintbrush or brush. The fan collects room dust, so its cleanliness directly affects the efficiency of ventilation.
After cleaning, you can reuse the same carbons or replace them with new ones.
MAINTENANCE
The LEDs and fan have an estimated lifespan of approximately 10 years under normal use. They can be replaced if necessary – Vilby is serviceable.
Purifying:
• Wipe surfaces with a damp cloth
• You can use a mild, neutral detergent
• Avoid harsh chemicals and solvents
SAFETY
• Do not let water get into electrical equipment.
• Do not use Vilby in damp areas or outdoors.
• Do not cover the ventilation openings.
• Use only the supplied power supply.
